Who Would Take A One Way Trip To Mars?

This would actually be a pretty good way to go. They say that the explorers would live about 68 days there. Probably won't happen. They need $6 billion for the project. That's a lot of fundraising.

I may be in the minority but does anyone else believe that space research/exploration (dating back to the moon landing) is a f*cking gigantic waste of time and money? I mean I understand we need to at least monitor the skies and launch satellites etc. but how many billions have been spent on exploration? and exactly what has it provided the the human race besides some cool videos and pictures? any usable resources? (gold, silver, anything)...nope, extra terrestrial life or other unidentified life that can be seen without using a microscope...nope, another planet where human life could sustain without living in a space station?...nope

maybe a space nerd can change my way of thinking, but I just don't get it

The 68 days is what MIT calculated they'd last using today's technology.

              2024 is 9 years away.

9 years ago the Iphone was still 2 years away.

Much of the technology that we use today comes from NASA

So while it seems that we're just spending billions of dollars to cruise around space, it's far from that.

Most cell phone technology, especially that of the Iphones, came directly from NASA
