I didn't really care for it because there's too much classroom, girlfriend, and mother BS, and not enough gambling. You don't get much insight into what drives Whalberg to gamble, or what his gambling strategy is. I just didn't buy him in the role at all.

The original is the better movie, though it suffers from many of the same flaws (James Caan is very convincing though).

The movie overall was not very good. I thought John Goodman did a great job with his position of F*** You speech. How many can say they are in that position?

I also saw this yesterday, by mistake. (SIDE STORY - I had movie cash for Night at the Museum 3 so went to see that but was running late. When I got my ticket I sat down and watched about 15 minutes of previews as I played on my phone. I finally realized that I was at the 1140 Gambler, not the 1120 NAM3. Decided I'd stay since I wanted to see this more)


Anyways... I really enjoyed this. Goodman was excellent, as expected. Marky put in a great performance but neither is award worthy as I had heard spouted around. The movie could have certainly used a little more drama, but I would recommend this as a solid flick.

Heard nothing but bad reviews but gotta see it anyway. Been a little behind on movies lately but a big fan of Wahlberg movies. Who woulda thought 20+ years ago that complete tool douche Marky Mark would have done a 180 flip overnight and kicking out great movies/performances for past 2 decades. Just watched Pain and Gain couple nights ago with him and The Rock I highly recommend shit was hilarious and even funnier being based on true story.
