#5My mom threw all mine away. But one of my first gambling experiences is where me and my buddies made up a game-- we'd lay a bunch of our cards next to a wall, equal between us in what we'd each lay in number and quality and flip quarters against the wall. Whichever card your quarter landed on you keep. I lost a 2nd year Nolan Ryan card playing that.Comment -

#11When I was a kid, I traded a frank Thomas rookie and Griffey rookie, for a Jordan rookie, several years later, I sold the Jordan rookie for enough to buy my first car, a 10 y/o caddy.
i still feel kind of bad for exploiting his stupity.
that was an early lesson on the savagery of America. You have two groups of people, the exploiters, and the exploited. And I knew I didn't be the latter.Comment -

#19I sold 3 Rickey Henderson rookie cards for $100 a pop years ago. I doubt they are worth anything now.
I had a few of the Billy Ripken "Fukkface" cards too.

#26Brings back memories, I remember painting the edges black with water color of a Barry Bonds 2nd year donruss card and traded it for a Ruben Sierra rookie card at a card show, felt kind of bad for that, wonder what that Bonds card is worth now though, this was a long time ago. I remember everyone seemed to want Griffey's upper deck rookie card back then, we were young then and having a card say worth 5 bucks meant something.Comment -
