Michael Schenker one of my favorites (MSG and UFO); wouldn't say he's "underrated", just never got a lot of love from the mainstream here in the US.

My uncle was a fan of Dixie Dregs, I first checked him out on his solo stuff; he found his home with Purple. Blackmore was great before he went all folk music. I prefer his work with Rainbow more so than Purple (deeper catalog). Hendrix, Page, Trower, Vai, Satriani, Schenker, etc., it's all good!

My brother listens to the Dixie Dregs. I never thought to much about them. But that was when i was young, and had no taste. Will give them a listen. Thanks. Blackmore just kinda dropped out. Last i heard he was playing at the renaissance festival. Must be getting all the folk he can handle there. To each his own.

Definitely not underrated, but a classic nonetheless. Maybe expose some young bucks to stuff you'll never see on MTV or hear on the radio. Gets a little self indulgent towards the end, but still a great song.

From my area, was a sad day when news broke of his death. Killed by a drunk driver (with 7 prior dui convictions) on his way to Livestock, a weekend long rock festival north of Tampa sponsored by a local radio station. His wife was hurt pretty bad also. Fukn' guy had a blood alcohol level just under.3 (!), survived with minor injuries and only got 5 years, of which he served 18 months. That's a crime in itself. I was just a kid when I discovered their first release ( a single, still have it) under their prior name Avatar. Loved it, must have listened to the Sirens album 1000 times. You're correct, he and the band never really got the acclaim they deserved.

Play guitar myself and all these guys listed here are very respected in guitar community. Even big names like Hendrix and EVH most fans just don't know or understand the true genius of these guys if they don't play. Anyone else here a six string strangler?
