It was late at night down here in Oz, I had fallen asleep in front of TV and I think my brain must have registered what was going on as I woke up in a panic to the news that the 1st plane had hit and for the first 5 or 10 minutes I genuinely wasn't sure if I was dreaming.
9-11-01 where were you…….

#37Slept in that day. Woke up to turn on the news, and they were showing the first tower already hit. 2 minutes later, the plane came in to hit the second tower.Comment -

#38Landed in Athens early am then onto my Hotel. Turned on TV and the 1st tower had already been hit............then the 2nd. I was sick. Talked to my agent who encouraged me to continue on.
Flew into Cairo the next day - felt totally safe, guns/soldiers on every corner.
Very sadden in my heart for those who lost their lives to these half breed bastards.

#39I always remembered my parents saying they would never forget where they were when JFK was killed even though they were just kids, but never quite understood what that meant. Now, 14 years later, 9/11 is one of the most vivid memories I have from my childhood.
I was a freshman in high school and was sitting in 1st period science class when an announcement was made saying a plane had hit the World Trade Center. As the teacher rolled out the TV and turned on the news, I remember thinking it was strange that a plane had crashed into a skyscraper, but at that time it was still unclear what exactly was going on and I thought it must have been an accident. My teacher must have known the gravity of what was happening because we spent the rest of the class watching the news in silence. Went to 2nd period and saw the TV out with the news on, and I remember thinking "cool, TV all day no school work!" It wasn't until we all saw the 2nd plane hit live that I realized it was intentional. I can still remember the news reporter saying, "Oh my God another plane just hit!" as we all watched in silence. I lived about 75 miles away from Manhattan and a lot of kids' parents worked in/around the WTC so people started to freak out. They let us out of school early so people could go be with their families.
Later in the week, my dad and many other parents from my area went to Manhattan to look for people trapped in the rubble. Even though I was 75 miles away, our town was clouded with thick, dark smoke for weeks after the buildings were gone.
This video is still the most chilling one for me to watch; from the part where they're trying to convince themselves that the people jumping from the windows are chairs to the sheer horror when the second plane hits. Doesn't even seem real.

#41At work listening to the radio on my Sony Discman (yes one of those). I remember having to fill up my truck later that day, and waiting close to 20mins cause everyone was freaking out that gas was going to shoot up to $3 or even $4. At the time it was around $1.40 I believe.Comment -

The girl who made that video was a student a NYU and ended up becoming a famous writer for some movie.
When she decieded to leave the building only thing she took was a clean pair of underwear, thought that was funny.Comment -

#44Was on a plane to Moscow from NEW YORK and from there to lower part of Russia where its no body's business, BUT then I got to the god forsaken place they called an airport I was of course the only American getting off the plane. My handler/security was running towards me speaking frantic broken english trying o explain what happened. Russians were actually crying and hugging me. MY Russian is not very good but I could make out they were telling me how sorry they were for me. I told the handler, no Way could that have happened. it wasnt until I got to the oligarch's house and saw a CNN international feed that I realized what was going on. WAs there over 3 weeks before I could get back.
You see these people had been experiencing these Muslim extremists for years, and we ignored it. They said, now you understand why we hate them and want them wiped out. everytime some retard HSA agent feels me up and asks me all kinds of ridiculous questions, I think back to this time.Comment -

#45Sitting in London, on the trading floor of the German bank where I was working at the time. A lot of people that I, my former business partner, or our coworkers knew from Cantor Fitzgerald and such who didn't get out.
Was 'fortunate' to also be in the office for the London Bombings in 2005, I sent the rest of my colleagues home and didn't end up leaving the security zone until about 4pm, mom and (now) ex-wife were less than pleased as I recall that I stayed.
Watching American Sniper brought a lot of memories back of a number of unpalatable events I got to see unfold on the boob tube :/Comment -

#48How did he feel about the explosions which led to the intentional demolition of three buildings that day. Did he hear those things going on like the firemen on the scene had described on that day?Originally posted by TheMetsSuckI was in high school sitting next to a girl in my history class whose dad died in the tower. Hearing her get called out of class to goto the principals office still sends chills down my spine. My dad was in the building right next to it that and was the second plane hit when they evacuated after the first one. Hearing his stories about people jumping out of the building is nuts and definitely scarred him. crazy day. kinda surprised an attack like this hasnt happened since not even a small scale one on us soilComment -

#52Jay, i'm trolling? can you see the forest while standing in the woods?
Thread was started to simply remember the events on this day and perhaps your thoughts about events, not what your doing. I'm sure I've stepped on your petunia in past and it hurt you and somehow has effected your life, but that doesn't mean you have to follow me around here @ SBR and stay in attack mode. Can you just back off in threads not intended for childish games?Comment
