Coworker starves himself for 17+ hours a day
One of the most bizarre things I have ever seen. I noticed a guy at the office was not eating lunch the past couple of days and when I questioned why he mentioned something about fasting and not eating from like 4 am to 9 pm. Its 90 degrees out their and guy is struggling in the office getting things done later in the day because apparently he can't drink water all day either and he gets very thirsty and tired as the day progresses. I am considering reporting him to the manager as he is affected by fasting and his work is suffering making the rest of us work harder.

Sounds like the guy is fasting for Ramadan. Could be dangerous if he can't handle it. He should have already informed the manager to warn him/her. If not, I'm sure you will find out...Comment -
Actually their is a fairly new way of eating where you eat all your meals in a 8 hour period of the day and fast the rest. It's been shown to be better for your digestive system and aids in weight loss.Comment -

For people who workout its intermittent fasting where you eat all your food in a 4-8 hour window and fast for the rest of the day but you can drink water, not drinking water is just stupid.Comment -

I don't recall when they do this... the time of the year... but some Arabic dude does this.... and when he does... this guy is so weak and edgy. I don't even know. Are these the same people that bomb innocent people? Starve themselves for some make believe guy... and then become a suicide bomber and kill 20 people+ Wow... that's one smart religion. Answer, No. His religious practices shouldn't intervene in work place, what if the guy was a surgeon and passed out mid operation. It doesn't matter the job, if it puts more on you then that effects your ability to do your job efficiently.Comment -

Some Moslem believers at work used to wash their feet in the restroom sinks at lunchtime until people complained and the practice was banned. I thought it was kind of thoughtless and gross but not enough to file a written complaint to management. Some people brush there fukking teeth there and that is just as bad...Comment -
Besides not eating for 17+ hours he apparently can't take breath mints either and he continually has bad breath everyday in the afternoon. I finally did something about it and wrote an anonymous note to the manager and left it on his desk. Hopefully something gets done and this guy either is forced to eat or loses his job.Comment -

A very similar workplace situation IMO is smokers. These people because they have an addictive habit somehow get to go outside for 5 or 10 minutes every hour while non smokers continue to work and have to be responsible for whatever happens or comes up while the smokers club is outside puffing away. I think it has become stricter on them now but it used to be ridiculous, and still is common in places like restaurants.Comment -
