Computer techies. How do you lose your Windows activation? How could that happen?

How do I get it back? Thanks. My laptop won't get on the internet anymore because my Windows activation all of a sudden is gone. Any help would be appreciated. Could a virus have done this to the laptop? Any help would be appreciated. Just baffling.

If not do a system restore and see if that solves your problem. If not you will have to provide the serial number to windows and they will provide you a new activation code.

Nothing underneath the laptop. I guess it will have to be phone activation. I can't even connect to the internet without it.

The serial number and CT numbers are on the charger. I don't know what the CT number is.

Ct is commodity tracking # if using 8 best option is to do a restore if you have disc unless you can get Microsoft to give you new citation key over phone

ure windows number is in the BIOS.
thats all i got. try pressing f10 as soon as you start up.
or contact hp with ure serial number, or if its registered with them, should be easy to get the key.
