USA is between a rock and a hard place because of our country's tradition of being a land where the poor and hungry can come for opportunity.

Immigration is not a problem in America. A more open borders is always the correct course of action. Immigrants do not usually take jobs from Americans cause in most instances we are not after the same employment. The majority of immigrants either do labor, and extremely well, or they start a business and help to create jobs. That add diversity to our culture and bring in new art, ideas, and food. In a country that has 10 - 12 million vacant homes and the ghost town of Detroit, a more open border policy on immigration is not a problem but a solution. If you want to say well they will just come in and soak up wellfare----then do not allow them to be on it for a course of time. Closing the borders, or greatly restricting it, can lead to some dangerous situations. Look for instance at the Jews trying to escape Germany but with no where to go. What is a bigger waste of money than foreign aid---the USA is in debt. Immigrants come in and often send money back home, this is the way to help end poverty. If one is scared of a little competition than well that is a "whoever you are problem"

With illegal immigration, yes. We need to secure our boarders and remove people that entered here illegally. I'm all for LEGAL immigration. We have a lot to offer and great opportunities as a country. Just knock on the front door to get in, don't break into the back door and steal from us so to speak... No amnesty for illegals.
