Bob geldof her father also was the catalyst for live aid the two concerts performed on the same day in Philadelphia and London to raise money for Africa. The line up is the greatest lineup ever assembled.

Some musicians were so aware of the great historical significance of this day that they performed in philly and then jumped on a plane to perform at the other venue in London the same day!!! Phil Collins from genesis was one I remember seeing at both. It was really a beautiful thing

I can see why you feel it's appropriate to make a statement like this on the day of his 25 year old daughters death.

I didn't catch that inxs boomtown rats were both there, pretty ironic for sure. I saw on geldof wiki page pink Floyd the wall, but have to admit I have never seen the wall. Heard of it of course, maybe i should check it out. Even if the guy is a douche today you got to feel for him and his grandchildren that lost their mom.

I would have been about 5 at the time seeing as how it released in 1979. It couldn't have been too big of a hit in the United States that it doesn't even get any play on any of the stations now. The Rock station that I listen to plays everything clear back into the 60's up until present time and I never heard of that song.

Ok, it was a #1 song in the U.K. but only reached #73 in the U.S. and got limited airplay most likely due to it's sensitive nature. This may explain why I never heard it. If it didn't get much replay on through the 80's, I definitely wouldn't have heard it.
