How much is getting your car back after getting towed in your area?
So I wake up this morning to go to work and my car isn't where I parked it. I think its stolen and then I see the hidden driveway where I parked. Go to pick up my car and its a $330 fee to get my car back from towing plus another $50 fine for parking in a driveway. The fine is no big deal but $330 for towing is beyond ridicilous how are they getting away with this? Gotta think its a whole lot cheaper in other parts of the country. New Jersey just might be the worst place to live in America.

Local car tows are usually around $100 to $150. But I guess when a tow company gets a call and takes your car to their place of business, they can charge you whatever they want. Some places have an automatic fee just for dropping off your car on their property, then they add money on everyday it is there for storage fees.

I had to have my dad's van towed last month (about 20 miles) and the bill was $125. AAA's ended up covering it because I am a member. But I had it towed to his property.

Once it was $200 (cash of course...) and one time it was only $50. The time it was $50 was kind of shady though, since I caught them in the middle of the act and payed them right on the spot. I've heard that in some states if you catch someone towing your car that all you have to do is get inside the car and they can't legally tow you since it would technically be "kidnapping". Anyone know if thats true? It sounds sort of logical but also sounds like it could be some BS myth.

$200 is my guess as the average...I got my car jacked one time right out of my driveway while we were home ...I later learned it was not parked in a way the association approved...All they had to do was knock on my door..but them no good crooks towed it..Towing and milage was $300..I made a stink because I was home ...never got dime back.
