I wonder if you will see the "ghost towns" during your stay in china? I'm not sure where exactly they are but, it would be interesting to pass by a city with more brand new buildings then people. I think construction got a bit out of hand when entire cities are virtually vacant. Let me know if you see any when passing through towns and cities by train or however you plan to travel once you get there. I wonder if the prices for these condos are dirt cheap or really expensive.
