Watched it last night. Probably best war movie I've ever seen. Only other movie that comes close is Black Hawk Down. Great movie and great story. If you haven't seen it, watch it. I think it comes out on DVD/blu ray in a few weeks.

great movie.
Not sure how you can say it is not a solid war film .
Thats how the combat went down, in close quarters like that for those few hours.
Im sure it took an unbelievable mixture of skill, knowledge, and luck to survive as long as they did.
Did not choke up , but was very sad

Wasn't meant to be a hollywood style CGI fest and unrealistic events like tossing a grenade and it detonates on impact or diving off rooftops and dodging bullets by the thousand as they strafe the wall when you run past. Was a fairly accurate account and well consulted.
I thought this was a really good movie. The camera shots and angles were different than other movies of this type

It's a good movie but far from the best war movie.
Still can't touch Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, or Apocalypse Now for the best war movies of all time.

I just watched this movie for the first time today and I have a question...
When the goat herders stumbled on their location the seal team said there were 3 options:
-Let them go and then try to climb up further to get a signal and call in to get picked up before the herders could tell the Taliban of their location
-Kill them
-Tie them to trees so they can't run down and alert the Taliban, but this would be the same as killing them since no one would know where they are
Why couldn't the seal team climb up the mountain further with the herders as hostages? Then as soon as they could get a signal and get out of there the herders could go? Was there some rule of engagement keeping them from taking hostages? Or maybe the screenplay was inaccurate?

I always wondered the exact same thing
In hindsight, I wonder of Luttrell wishes they would've just killed them. Or taken them to the top of the mountain with them.
If the screenplay was inaccurate, it was intentional, Marcus Luttrell lived with the director for 30 days so it would be done right.

I agree. I like him, but Mark Wahlberg was the wrong person to cast for this movie. His age along with a few other things didn't work for me in that role.
Also like The Green Berets and the original Midway
