Where's a good place to go backpacking??

Thinking of going at the end of May/beginning of June after my college graduation. Just thought of the idea, so haven't researched much yet. I'm looking for low budget but still be able to have fun and see things. Default thinking is just go to Europe, but what about South America, or maybe even Asia? Has anyone gone backpacking before, if so, how was it? How much did it cost?

Would definitely go the Europe route. France, Germany, Italy, Greece and a few others sprinkled in. That's my goal someday.

i did mexico and central america. i used the lets go central america guide. started in cancun (isla mujeres) and worked my way down to nicaragua and then backtracked abit and flew home from honduras after diving for a month. 6 months in all. probably best time of my life. tons of girls from europe traveling there. we used to call it the ruta gringo. keep in mind this was in 89. hahaha

Westcoast Trail on Vancouver Island, its a 1.5 Ferry ride from Seattle. Ive read article saying its one of the best trails around, takes a few days to do and you have to book

depends on your goal....I'd recommend nepal and india and you are a spiritual/new age type....thailand if you party

I'd like to get away for a week myself around the same time. Thinking about it, it does sound relaxing. Would need to take my pup with me though.

Not sure what you mean by good place. Any place can be good. Get a backpack, find a trail and start walking. When you are tired stop, rest and repeat next day.

Good advice so far guys. I would like to go to brazil, but that would be about the time of the world cup and prices would be ridic. I wouldn't be going alone obviously, so I'd have to check with some friends and see what their ideas are, but most of them I think are set on Europe(spain, Italy etc).
