- There is a possible active shooter at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, CO which is part of the Littleton, CO school district. All schools in the area are on lockdown.


The County Sheriff Grayson Robinson tells the CBS station in nearby Denver are possibly two victims, but their condition is unknown.

According to the school's website, 2,141 students attend the school with a 118 faculty members. The school more than 250,000 square feet with 70 classrooms.

The shooting comes almost one year after 20 children and six adults were killed in a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, CT.

Two seniors at nearby Columbine High School in Littleton, CO killed 13 people, 12 students and a teacher, on April 20, 1999 before taking their own lives. They injured 24 other students, and police found explosives they had planned to detonate.

In nearby Aurora, CO in July 2012, James Holmes opened fire in a crowded movie theater during a showing of The Dark Knight Rises, killing 12 and injuring 70.

The former neuroscience graduate student is charged with 166 counts of murder, attempted murder and weapons violations. He pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Holmes' trial had been set to being in February, but it has been indefinitely postponed so attorneys can argue whether he should undergo another psychiatric evaluation.

A friend who works at Channel 9 here in Australia told me at brunch that they used this thread and Reddit to keep up to date with what was going on because we're high up on the Google cache. He also said that the ABC (govt owned like PBS in the US but more news-y) used this thread too because they didn't have enough staff around to aggregate all the info as quickly as you guys did.
