Having survived 27 summers here in Las Vegas I can say that it is MUCH more bearable than being back east, where I grew up, in the 80%+ humidity! Yes, it IS hot BUT you go from your air conditioned home to your air conditioned car to your air conditioned job. And honestly I can't tell the difference between 100 and 110... it's just plain hot at either temp.

summers are fine here, you just sleep all day and stay up at night unless youre headin to the lake. when i was a kid they used to use the base for the official temps but switched it to mccarron because nellis is the hottest part of town and they didnt want to scare away the tourists with 120+ readings all summer long. the temp really varies 20+degrees depending on what part of town youre in. it could be 100 in the northwest and 120 on the eastside. only takes one summer to get used to it. the funny thing is watchin all the east coasters come out here in winter. first winter they are runnin around in short sleeved shirts and shorts talkin bout this isnt cold blah blah blah since we only get a few weeks where it goes below 30 at night, then summer comes and their blood thins out and come next winter they are all freezin their asses off when it hits 40 degrees. if youre lookin for some boardin spots, lee canyon sucks but is ok they day of or right after a storm before everything turns to ice. brianhead only a couple hours away and elk meadows an hour past it, same with mammoth in the other direction.

The temps aren't the bad thing for me, it's the length. With the exception of this month, I usually see temps over 100 well into October. Just when you're ready for it to be over, it's not. Usually starts in May.

The pool parties and stuff are great, but I usually take my vacations in the summer to get away from the Vegas heat.

summers here everyone either stays inside, or they go out and become mall rats or stay in the casinos for the a/c. the lake is still way too hot for me.

here, winter to me is fairly short. fall and spring golf is nice.

humidity is really a killer in the east coast, so you can easily handle dry heat here.

i like it here - no taxes all year-round.

thats what i was worried about. the dragging on of the heat. here in florida the heat/humidity/rain goes on and on and on and on. terrible. florida most overrated state ever.

After living in Phoenix for 10 years ,then moving to Iowa I can say I really miss the Heat. The heat never bothered me everywhere you go shopping centers, super market, movies the OTB every where has air conditioning. In fact my wife always had to carry a sweater with her because it was so cold everywhere because of the AC.Then moving here to Iowa and having to deal with the Humidity it is a heck of a lot worse I will take the heat over the humidity any day. When it is 100 degrees and 100 percent humidity you can not even move outside because your drenched in sweat. Humidity much more worse then the heat.

I think the all time high here in town was 117 degrees. You can probably count on two hands how many days in the summer actually exceed 110. Most summer days range from 100 - 108 or so.
