    Costa Rica in a month
So I'm going to Costa Rica in about a month and I was wondering if anyone had any info on the gambling scene? I'm staying in a luxury hotel (Gaia) and they don't have a casino there. Is it like Aruba where you can bet in hotel casinos or is there non of that.. Do I have to find 5dimes headquarters and make a face to face deposit??
info if u have any is appreciated.
also if anyone has been and done something super fun let me know. Thanks

I stayed at the Radisson (which was very nice )when I was there and there was a casino attached. The casino was the pits, its in a basement, pretty empty, no poker room, nothing much going on.

Also, if you're in CR, spend as little time in San Jose as possible.

Gambling scene is alright. Gaia is in Manuel Antonio, right? Beautiful area, and there are a couple of casinos in Manuel Antonio, but nothing like you're used to. Costa Rica isn't exactly a gambling destination. What are you wanting to do here? Coming with family or solo? Business or pleasure? I've lived here almost 10 years, so ask away.

You picked an awesome place then with Manuel Antonio. Gorgeous place. You'll see the monkeys and sloths in the national park. nice beach to relax on and have people bring you fruity cocktails.

Since you're going to be headed out towards that area and want to do something like a zip line, there's a place called Turubari (http://www.turubari.com/). You will want to do this!!

You're strapped in laying down, as if you're Superman, so it feels just like you're flying through the air. So so so awesome, and highly recommended.

It's rainy season, so our rivers are nice and full, so that means you have to go white water rafting! http://www.riostropicales.com/ is an excellent tour company that I used. Time of your life!

Also in the same area is the crocodile tour - http://www.crocodilerivertour.com/. Must see! You get to see crocs in their natural habitat, rather up close. the tour guide will get into the water with the crocs and give em chicken (cuz he's freakin crazy!).

Before I go any further, how long are you going to be here?

9 days and 8 nights. Zip line looks sick. White water looks like a def as well. I just went on Safari in South Africa a year ago so the croc trip is right up my alley too.

San Jose bites the big one. A ripoff.

Go to Osa Peninsula and Arenal. Great rain forest and cool volcano.

Alright so after you do the whole Manuel Antonio area, if you want to go hang gliding or paragliding, you'll be able to do that from Jaco, a little beach/party down that you'll pass through to get to Manuel Antonio.

So next, head up north to go see the Arenal volcano, but it's not currently active. It was active nearly every night for years and years, flowing lava and it was amazing to watch it from various vantage points. Unfortunately, it's been dormant for some time. It's still pretty. There are plenty of hot spring pools around the volcano where you can just relax in various temperature pools.

After Arenal, head on over to Guanacaste, home to the prettiest beaches in CR. Guanacaste is the name of a province, not a specific place. They're all pretty much the same, so pick one you want to see and go chill there. Montezuma, Santa Teresa, Samara, Flamingo, Tamarindo, Playa Grande. I would recommend more northern Guanacaste, so more Tamarindo, Playa Grande, etc. There are several nice resorts up in that area.

Now, since you're into animals, you're coming at the perfect time, and it's something you absolutely must see - it's amazing to watch it all happen. Every year, the sea turtles come back to Ostional in the Nicoya Peninsula to lay their eggs in the beach and then go back out to sea. Either at night or early in the morning, you watch the eggs hatch and these baby turtles make their way out to the surf. Years later, regardless of where those turtles are at in the world, they somehow make their way right back to the very place they were born to lay their eggs. It's such a beautiful sight. http://www.nicoyapeninsula.com/ostional/

That'll just about cover your trip. You'll definitely love it. Stay out of San Jose, nothing to do there, so don't waste your time staying there.

Definitely agreed, although Arenal is no longer active. It was the most coolest thing I had ever seen the first time I watched it erupt, but now it's no different than the other various inactive volcanoes we have.

Yes, it is. And what you saw is normal activity, that volcano has not make an eruption since the 60's.

What I meant by active is that it hasn't been spewing lava for quite some time now. I saw on the news that tourism in that area has dropped quite a bit, because Arenal isn't spewing lava anymore.
