My guess from being on this forum. I am not Mr.Popular, but I go to house parties and nightclubs. After the guy that said he would have sex with a pornstar all night, I knew I was a in a loser forum. All you need is 5 grams of coke/meth and a pornstar would be all over you.

I was pleasantly surprised when I moved to Vegas. My first year, I made friends with degens, because I just wanted to have friends and some kind of social life without going out by myself and chasing tourist tail (almost got me killed). Degens are easy to spot. They're all barreled in, pathological liars that you can tell don't have the intelligence to really make it here. There's like 15 professional gamblers left in this entire city anymore. You're not going to be one of them.

What I did find over years are that the people here that don't gamble a lot are extremely motivated, and that motivated me. You don't have a lot of peeps that are third-generation in the same town, and that mail it in when they're 22 and will live their whole life there and die. There's a gold-rush mentality here that can bring shadies, but can also bring very interesting and determined people that realize that you can't always get there alone. Got rid of the degens as soon as I found real friends.

Just remember, most people live in Vegas because they had the balls to realize that where they were wasn't cutting it and took a shot. If that shot is to gamble a lot, you'll be home faster than JayVegas. If it's to grab opportunity, and there's a lot of it here, you can kill it so long as you're willing to fail a couple of times first.
