A buddy and I are thinking about starting one and selling primarily used BMW's that we buy at auctions....
Anybody do this?
Any advice you would like to share?

In my 20's I bought cars at Sharpless Brothers auction in Iowa City and flipped them. But I'm talking about paying $600 and flipping them for $1100. I bought gear to teach myself how to paint cars, but I could never save enough money to get serious and then lost interest.
Buy early 80's Regals, Cutlass', Monte Carlos and Grand prix's...Then throw on some cheap shiny rims and sell them to the bruthas and the white boys who wish they was black for double what you paid.

Why do people think they can get good deals at used car auctions?
The whole idea of auctions is you are bidding against others with the same idea.
I'd rather sell a fresh trade in any day than a fresh auction vehicle.
You know what vehicles end up at auctions? Vehicles so bad that dealers no they have no chance of selling them on a used car lot.
It's not all unicorns and roses.

Dramatic, exaggerating motherfcuker.
How the fuk is someone going to trade in a car if you have no cars on your lot for them to trade for.
Take the half a mil you got in the bank and go out and buy a gang of used BMW's at used retail prices and hope you can sell 'em for a profit?
No. You start at auctions like pretty much every used car lot in America.
So many auctions are dealer only...But dealers don't/shouldn't go to auctions?
The fcuk is wrong with you?

Why do you think vehicles are sent to the auction in the first place?
How many people/dealers are you going to be bidding against?
BMW buyers are going to be very picky and are going to beat you up for any imperfection. Limiting yourself to high end BMW type cars is not a very good idea.

I agree that starting with BMW is a daydream...But a brother can make money fcuking with auctions. I was more of a curbstoner when I could buy local cars out of the paper, it's illegal, but so many people don't sign the title..Auctions are different of course.

I know a dude who owns a gas station. Arabic of course. Has the fastest resell of a used car I've ever seen. His goal is just to make $500 each time around. What he does is.... gets you talking while ringing you up for your smokes and some fuel. Gets the feel of you. Naturally, his station is in a lower class neighborhood. But tells you hey... you short on cash? I'll give you $1,000 for your car right now. Guy signs over the title.... He gets $1,800-$2,000 for it within 72 hours. He just puts the car right by his gas station sign on the corner. Cracks me up how fast his turnover rate is... car doesn't last more than 1 week at his station. Baffles me on how quick any used car moves.

Learn how to turn back the odometer and forge the titles. Spray the interiors so the flood vehicles don't smell.

I know guy who does this for living. Works for a dealership. Says selling used mobiles lots more than new ones. On the side he goes to auctions twice a week to buy and resell used car, lol. Hook up with a reputable dealership. Then used that reputation to promote your own agenda. lol
