You could do worse than Ocean City - it tends to be a lot of families during the day, and lot of slightly less pretentious Jersey shore types at night..... good beach, pretty safe, high police presence. If you want something a little more about the water/sand, and less about the nightlife, Nags Head, NC is decent, Cape May NJ is ok or if you are looking for young girls in bikinis, then most of NJ or Fla is your best bet.

We like it there and travel the extra 2 hours as opposed to going to the jersey shore. Not sure about the fishing but golf is amazing, the beaches are clean, boardwalk kind of small but we like that, huge police presence so be careful drinking & driving. One main nightclub there (Seacrets) nice place. I'd deff. recomend.
