‘Obama only continues Bush policies’
President Barack Obama has continued whatever the American people reviled about the Bush administration, says a prominent American human rights activist.
“Everything that people hated about the Bush administration, Obama has either continued or extended on,” Dr. Randy Short told Press TV’s U.S. Desk on Monday.
President Obama’s approval and trust numbers dropped sharply last month, according to a new CNN/ORC International poll released Monday.
According to the poll, Obama’s approval was down 8 points from May to 45 percent.
Mr. Short accused the president of “lying” to the people who stood behind him and were “most loyal to him,” saying that Obama is clearly not working for ordinary people.
President Obama has recently come under fire for a series of scandals in the government including the Internal Revenue Services’ affair, the rising rate of military sexual assaults, the Benghazi cover up, the ongoing hunger strike at the Guantanamo prison, and the National Security Agency’s surveillance of both Americans and foreigners.
Though the president has been struggling in recent months to defend his administration’s performance in the face of these controversies, the public appears not to be satisfied.
“There is a growing sense that he is a total disappointment and he just does not seem to get it,” Dr. Short said.
President Obama has failed to change controversial domestic and foreign polices of his predecessor, critics say. His campaign promises, as put by Dr. Short, have proven to be all “lies.”
