For what it is worth...I ran in the database...how teams do after scoring >=40 points in a playoff game. I was a bit surprised at the number, yet significantly not a good sample. This is just in good fun!

Since 2001, teams that score >=40 points in a playoff game are 3-14 ATS in their next (ave line -0.9), losing by an average of 7.8 points. I wanted to see this as the Colts, who put up >=40, got dismantled by the Pats this year. So how do dogs to in this situation? 1-6 SU and ATS (ave line +5.9). Dig a littler deeper, how does conference play figure into this situation? AFC 1-7 ATS (ave line again -0.9) The only cover was back in 2003 where, ironically, the Colts won SU and ATS against the Chiefs 38-31! Now the Pats have been losers in this situations....

After watching the Chargers beat the Bengals (-6.5) SU. I was wonder how home teams did after B2B home wins that were not >-10 on the line. Too my surprise, not very good! Again, this is not significant as the sample size is small. It's all in good fun.

Since 2004, home teams (>-10) coming of B2B home wins are 12-22 SU and 6-27-1 ATS (ave line -3) and a average margin of defeat of 4.9. To my surprise this situation came frequently this year and actually fell in line with the numbers (ATS):

Browns (+2.5) vs Lions, 17-31
Chiefs (-7) vs Browns, 23-17
Giants (-3) vs. Cowboys, 21-24
