From what I know about this guy, he got locked up and they nicknamed him "grandson" because the way he carried himself in and out of jail he reminded them of the founder of the Black Disciples gang, which he was also a member of.

So I'm sure he did ok when locked up.

Still, the way he lived his life, death was just a matter of time. it caught up with him.
