Getting ready for church this morning. I didn't realize the first Hoops game is at 11:20. It's the everlasting conflict between church and gambling...gotta love Sundays.
Not sure about the NBA, I sort of checked out late last night (cough cough) and didn't even cap the NBA today. I just haven't seen enough to make a call.

Excellent observation Grape...short answer...it's a close call. If I had both plays at a discount of -105 I would have a saved a little bit on vigorish. But truthfully, I was happy to get the best line I could see with Kentucky -11. I was locking in the 11 for fear of a move to 11.5. For the price difference, it was worth the risk. I have a post regarding vigorish on parlays, it's not what most think. That parlay offered +265 in payout. Here's the meat of explanation...
The juice on a two pick parley paying +260 is 5.12%. That’s slightly more than the average 4.55% on the 50-50 proposition.
In the same way, you can calculate a 3 pick paying 6-1 to be charging 4.35% vigorish…a slight bargain over 4.55%.
If I make and win a $100 bet at -110, odds, I will get back $191. If I then bet $191 at -110 on a second game, the return will be pennies shy of $365. And that’s why so many books these days will tolerate +265 odds on the two pick payout.

In the end, though, I was attempting to reduce my risk to just one bet and increase my reward. And remember, I had no guarantee that I would see the results of the first game before the second game started. With that 1.5 spread, overtime could have thrown a monkey wrench in that second bet. Those games were in different buildings.
Just a little bit of my thought process here. Again parlays are only good if you are 2-0 or 0-2. That 1-1 is a bitch!

never realized parlays paid out so well, crazy you get a bargain on a 3 teamer. +264 is still less than +264.46 which means it would still probably be more profitable in the long run to play -110s as opposed to 2 teamers.
parlaying -105s pays out +281 which is a much better payout than +264. since you are parlaying 2 independent events, why even parlay 2 games at the same time? another strategy, you can play a reduced bet, get the best line, and then parlay the winnings+original bet on another reduced bet which would pay out +281. since the events are unrelated, what's the difference between parlaying 2 games on the same day vs my strategy which pays out +281? By this logic, shouldn't you avoid +264 parlays for the purposes of maximizing long term profit? why take +264 on two random events when you can get +281 on two random events?
i'm not saying parlays can't be profitable, but wouldn't it be more profitable in the long run to take advantage of reduced juice? even parlays in general, you are betting or not betting a game depending on if you win another unrelated one. doesn't it seem to make the most sense to bet a game if you have an advantage as opposed to the random luck factor on other games?
why do you care about minimizing your risk to one bet for a bigger payout? aren't you in this for the long term profits?
