A girl was raped and murdered off a really busy street in the inner CBD recently that really made me wonder about our phones. He grabbed her, took her into a side street, raped and killed her despite all of the foot and vehicle traffic and then went home for his car to put her in a shallow grave outside of Melbourne while leaving her in the side street. Somehow the police were able to determine where her phone was travelling after she'd been reported missing and then narrowed it down to the 3 or so people in a city of 4 million+ people who were travelling in the same direction at the exact same time. All despite him breaking her phone and splitting the SIM in half. His mistake was failing to throw out her phone. He left it in the car for the journey to the grave and then brought it home and hid it in his washing mashine thinking because he cracked the iphone and the SIM right in half it was rendered useless and would be even moreso after he washed it but something in the iphone obviously still tracks. Seriously tripped me out but made me feel so much better at the same time.

There's pretty much no way to get away with it if you have some connection to the victim......Random murder for no reason is a different story, but even then there would be some kind of slip up or evidence left behind 99% of the time
