In SoCal there are fukkin parades and street festivals for cinco de mayo.

To me, it's a reason to grub on tasty food and enjoy some Don Julio '42.

Interestingly enough........I asked a group of mexican-american friends of mine (yes Mayan....I have mexican friends who were born and raised in Pico Rivera) if they knew what the origin of cinco de mayo was and all of them said "it celebrates mexican independence day".
