Let's say a person lives 50 miles away from you and you plan on having them murdered. How would you have it done so that you do not get caught? Is it possible to create and execute a prefect murder?

I've often thought about this myself. But then I realized that the people committing murder have a few screws lose themselves, so they likely wouldn't be able to come up with it except in very rare situations.

Some tremendous responses but doesn't look like it's actually possible.

Depends on if the person has no actual connection to you. Most people can't lie very well, and if you are connected to the person that was murdered, there's a strong possibility that you could be questioned. I saw on TV that most crimes are solved by a person confessing to the crime.
Now, if the person is completely random and has no ties to you whatsoever, I think that you could get away with it. Chi_archie already provided the murder weapon - an icicle. Once it melts, then there's no murder weapon.

Not so much a plan but some general rules
no finger prints
no DNA
no body
no weapon
nobody else can know
no phones (GPS)
Hard to build even a circumstantial case without any of the above

You want a piece of fishing line and a cigarette lighter.
After necking the poor soul simply disintegrate the fishing line with the lighter.
This is purely hypothetical of course...

The amount of times ive seen on the news people getting undone this way is unreal.
Dont they realise your phone is a virtual tracker?? Of course there are programs that can manipulate that etc but would it really be worth the hassle?

35% of murders go unsolved, but there are a lot of variables. If you're talking about an attractive wealthy white woman, cops will spend thousands of man hours and millions of dollars trying to track you down. Can't leave any physical evidence or witnesses. If you kill a black crackhead hobo in Detroit, they'll probably just wait to see if a video shows up on world star hiphop.

That's a good point. I think if it a crime were well-thought out, and nobody but you knew about it, it should be pretty easy to get away with the crime.

btw the correct answer is DC sniper style
10 murders and the only reason they got caught was because of the frequency

Yeah because every smart criminal likes leaving evidence lying around for ballistics to analyze.
Where they fukked up was by creating a pattern for law enforcement to work from.
The truly 'skilled' ones don't create patterns...
