    Linux
So my computer crashed, yet again, and I decided that I had enough of it doing this every year or so. As I was forced to format the hard drive, I I thought it might present an opportunity to do some experimentation, so I switched over to linux as my only operating system about 1 week ago.

As of 1 week, I will state for the record, my computer has never functioned better, its literally tripled in speed, and Linux has all the essential software I need and more.

Anyone else use it? Any suggestions for reading material I should look into? I'm still trying to understand the file structure and terminal.

    All hail LINUX!

Been running it for years, the Linux distros have had a shakeup post Ubuntu 10.10, not for the better. I have since moved over to Linux Mint with MATE. IMO, Mint with MATE is currently the best.

Incidentally, a lot of sharps use Linux , squares use Windows and morons use Mac.

Running Mint with Cinnamon myself, I am shocked by how fast it is.

Sorry, that was a typo, I meant to say MATE. Cinnamon is pretty fast, that would be my second favourite after MATE.

I'm a Linux (Ubuntu) guy... love it. I'll never go back to a Windows platform.

Why? Linux doesn't hafta use a goddamn registry. Total waste of space and time, Mr. Gates.

For sure, it makes a hell of a lot of sense. I just never figured I'd have such a painless time running a computer.

Amazing what a bit of open source and peer review for software will do, ha.

I might set up a partition if I ever feel the need to use proprietary software, but aside from that, no plans of ever going back.
