just be cool, aint no need to act a fool. the county aint shit. 4 months will fly once you get in a routine. I'd definitely do 4 months instead of 3 years probation cause once you're let go you are free no strings attached.

county jail ain't that bad though...you most likely will end up in a barrack with another 60-80 degens...in Cali for example the barrack is divided on 4 sections: 2 for Hispanics, 1 for Blacks and 1 for Whites (with showers and shitholes in the middle) - try to hang in the section with your own race.
Don't be making friends there, but be cool and polite with everyone. Don't be fukking playing no card games there - read instead.
I hope you like to wake up early, because the 1st chow is around 4:30-5AM.

If you're there to clean up, perhaps staying away from gambling may be a good idea. One tip, it's the assholes that walk in day 1 trying to look tough that stick out. Just keep to yourself. If you walk in like you own the place, you're gonna look like you're trying to prove something. County jail isn't San Quentin, but you're likely to have a bunch of two bit punks doing short time with chips on their shoulders. Doesn't mean you need to walk in ready to scrap to protect your anus. Keep to yourself and you'll be fine. Make sure you have cash to buy shower slippers, you don't want to be showering barefoot. Bob barker soap products! Haha. Have fun with that shit inmate. Cuse, the gambling in jail from my experience is whist. Depends on the jail but that is the card game of choice that people gamble on. There is always the one guy that has football cards during the FB season. Rest of the year you just find a degen that like to bet and make bets with them. Yep, 4 months will fly by compared to 3 years of basically jail on the outside. I'll fck up on probation and end up in jail for at least a year so this was the best choice for sure.

Shit was fcked up, the judge saw that I needed help and whatnot and that I would fail on probation but instead of some type of treatment, the best he could do was jail I guess. He's a nice dude so I'm not sure if he could have done much else with my charges.

Good advice, thanks. Yeah I don't plan on being anything I'm not and acting tough, just doing my time and minding my own business. Sometimes I piss people off just with the way I look, I guess I look like a punk so I might get shit but oh well.

I was just kidding bout the gambling really, I'm just gonna try not to lose my mind and get it over with. Only worry is the withdrawals from opiates, maybe they'll give me something but I have no clue how that works in jail. Anyway, no gambling or any of that shit that will just get people pissed or me in trouble. Good behavior, I'll be out in maybe 80 days, cakewalk.

Just make sure the facility that you are going to has a methadone program before, they wont do suboxone cause of the cost but methadone yes in most cases. Either way going to be a tough couple days but after a few sleepless nights you will get through it and feel like a new man when its all over. Jail was the only reason that I ever got off any of that shit the judge did me a favor. You will get through it and at least where I was jail as opposed to prison isnt like they make it out to be on tv. Mostly not the most horrible people just people with problems with substances the % of crimes that are substance related is staggering. I am sure you will do just fine.

I know in ct they dont care what your on.. You go cold turkey. Unless something sever happens i.e seizures etc. then hospital til withdrawl stops.

ive had friends whi went in on 20 mgs if methadone nd it was pure hell for 2 weeks. Suboxone might suck gor a few days but it wont b as bad or long as methadone.

if i were u id buy 20 suboxones and ween yourself off before u go in. I use to do this when i was gettin high and would get clean for a few weeks by doin that.

Do you live in Syracuse or somewhere in upstate NY? Take the probation, move to NYC and start a new life without a car. Don't ever drive a car again. You might still be able to get away with boozing as long as you don't get violent or crazy when you're drunk. Why would you intentionally take the jail time?

We've talked a bit in poker and it's obvious you're a bright guy so o'course you know it's some emotional component of your life that has ya by the short hairs and is at the root of these addictions; so, your intellect won't navigate a successful plan away from these addictions -- no matter how hard you try/have tried -- other than using your intelligence NOW to set up a plan to somehow deal w/these emotional components (you can figure out the details of the inference).

im in boston, they dont do either subs or methadone in jail here, you have to glove it. I did some time in jail though in NY and when I got there I saw people were on Methadone but you had to be on before you got in the system. In Boston though you get a protcol of either valium for benzo's or alchohol and clonadine for opiaties. Doesnt do much but its something.

Yeah, I think jail will be the only thing that stops me finally. Normally when I'm trying to stop, I may make it a few days or even a week but eventually I will fall into the same habits so this is the only way. I've tried everything else multiple times, jail might be the winner.

I'm very self-aware of my issues It was really an easy decision, it's + EV to take jail time now instead of getting 3 years probation and a 90% chance of ending up in jail for at least a year down the road anyway. In August, it will all be a memory and hopefully lessons learned.

Thanks mike, I'm working on finding some subs so I'm gonna try to ween myself off like you said before I get in there and then just let the withdrawals run their course. I don't wanna get hooked on methadone or suboxone and just substitute my addiction for another. Hope everything works out for you and you can kick the methadone soon.

That would be the issue, I would get caught eventually and I do get crazy when I'm drunk, that's how it all started. I can't just drink for a week or two then stop, when I'm drinking, I'm drinking from when I wake up until sleep. It's coming to a point where I physically can't do it, my stomach is destroyed. I'm starting to ween myself off that now too. It was an easy decision the jail, I can see why people would say probation I guess but I know me and probation won't work.

Thanks man, you're spot on of course. That is one thing I haven't really thought about though, I'm still in the mindset of just doing enough to survive and not really go at the cause of the problem. Honestly, I appreciate the advice, I'm gonna try to remember this and work on the emotional things that are making me want to rely on drugs to hide from them. I've always hated doing that and been better at succumbing to the easy way out obviously but I think I'm old enough now where I can take a step back and work on the things I've stored away with drugs.

I've 90 days twice, wasn't shit but playing tonk, euchre, spades and dominos. No worries.
