can online forum personnel, intentionally load viruses on internal links?

The reason I ask this is because,I got perma banned from:
On my 1st thread!
US Message Board - Political Discussion Forum

At the same time I got some nasty Viruses
that took me an entire day to remove
Regular quick Scan did not completely work......
Norton power eraser did not completely work......
back up and restore did work...........

to answer your original question, whoever controls the content on the site can hyperlink anything they want to...including the link to some virus, but if it's a legit forum, I doubt that they would do something like this.

It was cookies, pauly's files, through back door. Tid serv and back door Rustock...

This was the only info I could find, Like I said I still had viruses even though my scans said there were no threats...........

Back up and restore fixed all my virus problems...........

yeah the anti virus shit that you've mentioned can help, if you got your hard drive infected...it's another story when your browser gets hijacked
the reason why I'm saying this is the dirty hyperlinks that you talked about is usually the symptom of a hijacked browser...you visit regular (normal) sites, click on links and instead of the stuff that you're looking for you get a redirect to a bogus site with virus. You wouldn't even know that you're infected. In that particular scenario you would need to clean/disable all ActiveX and AddOns in you browser and start fresh.
