Wouldn't be hard to either carjack someone or break into a place, kill or kidnap the inhabitants, and take their wheels.

He knew he had to get out of the vehicle they had a BOLO for....
He also has to know if he doesn't have wheels it is all over for him.

Either freezing in the elements or being cornered like a rat.

If the police find his hiding place and nobody else is inside...

There's a guy in Utah, who is been evading the authorities for years. He's survived out in the middle of nowhere by breaking into abandoned cabins. Compared to the terrain and whether that this Utah guy has faced, this part of California is paradise. It won't be hard for him to find what he needs if there are abandoned vacation homes in the area. I wonder if this guy read about this story, as it occasionally makes national news. Could be a long time before he's found.

There was an update that a woman saw someone that matched dorner's description near a prison. I wonder if there was a way this could've been avoided. I was thinking they could've brought someone in that he respected when they let him go. He seems intelligent from reading his manifesto so maybe they could've given him a different position in the police force or in the navy.
