need help computer virus

yesterday after surfing box pop up on fresh page saying; microsoft security essentials alert
being bright red went on to say detected items showing 3
says i need to clean computer immediately to advoid system crash
clicked on clean computer and believe that it downloaded then said not normal so I cancel
I then did system recovery

today and now box from microsoft that i do use to protect my comp is back
i tried to clean computer without pop up but can't
i did a full scan using micro essentials already on comp and comes out ok

shoud i clean computer from this alert box or not?

did find this not knowing if mine is fake or not,
When you encounter one of these fake virus pop-ups while browsing, immediately do the following:

-Do not touch any browser window to close it or browse further.
-Immediately press Ctrl-Shift-Esc and bring up Task Manager and forcibly end all instances of iexplore.exe, if using Internet Explorer, or the executable for the browser you are using.
--or--
-Go to Start/Shut Down and restart the PC without touching any browser windows.
-If you used task manager to close browser instances, reboot the machine.
-Then go to Control Panel/Internet Options and delete all temporary Internet Files and cookies. If you are using an alternate web browser, open the browser settings to do the same - delete the local cached files and cookies.
-Perform a full scan with your antimalware program.

The above steps should prevent the infection from taking hold.

Sounds like you've already been infected - that pop up is probably just trying to lure you into downloading software to take over your computer (odds are they'll hold your computer ransom by saying you need to pay 'X' amount for anti-virus software to clean your computer, even though they're the ones that infected it).

Just start your computer in 'Safe Mode' (hold down the 'F8' button as your computer starts), disconnect from he internet, then run all your anti virus software, clear your browsing history, cache, etc... Hopefully that takes care of it.

That's what I do with the full format. Just back up your computer once in awhile so you can start from the backup.

Having problem repeat again yesterday I went here finding another with same. I followed the instructions told to him and so far so good. It does appear that these real looking pop ups are fake. I have a pic of it but unable to post. Thanks for the link/advice.

Yeah, that did that to me. I just clicked out of it. No problems since. My antivirus is usually pretty good
at picking that shit up, don't know why it came up. I use AVAST. They have a free version and a $20 version.
