It's gone man. Until this shit gets fixed a high interest savings account is bullshit.

I used to be able to get 5-7% by putting it in simple money market accounts. Same account will be lucky to see 1%.

The difference between high interest and you mattress is about a few cents to dollars every month.

Energy Trusts are like dividend stocks.

I had ING for a while but the interest was dropping monthly until it was under .9% and it wasn't worth it anymore. I'd be ok with even 1.75, but even that isn't common anymore.

This ^^^ if you don't have at least six figures to stash. You can find 5% offshore, so I hear, but offshore banks require lots of money/paperwork. Btw, even if the interest is accrued offshore, you still must report it on your taxes...

I used SmartyPig.com. 1% APY with no fees no minimum balance (i believe). it was 1.65% but they lowered it. i think its the best in the country. its strictly online. u transfer $ from bank to ur savings acct there. can always transfer it back.
