Why does Taco Bell and McDonalds commercials target minorities?

You always see some cool hip Latino guy leaning up against a caddy chowing down on some nachos or a group of well dressed blacks cacklin and chumming it up over a monopoly game and a big Mac. You never see a fat white guy in a wife beater pulling up to the drive thru in a s-10 ordering a gordilla or a mcrib.
