    Optical Illusion
The two "squares" marked A and B are in fact the same shade of gray.

Don't believe me? Try printing the image and cutting out the two tiles.

I've always liked that one. Even if you put your fingers up to the screen and block out the nearby squares between A and B you can see that they are the same shade.

This is a good optical illusion. Look at the image for long enough and maybe you'll be able to make out a picture of a giraffe. It's quite subtle so not everyone will manage to find it.

I can't see them as the same at all. Hell of an illusion if true.

Well done on managing to spot it, Bulldog.

This makes it considerably more obvious.

FYI, Ganch. This is not an illusion to those of us who are colorblind. The 'green' cyclinder casting the shadow is also gray to me

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought that colorblindness would have an impact.

So you're saying that in the first image you can clearly see that the tiles labelled A & B are the same shade of gray?

I think he's saying that you are prejudiced against colorblind people for not providing a thread that gives them the opportunity to be optically illuded.

There are very subtle differences to my eyes. I can see sort of faint boundary lines from the shadow cast by the cylinder, but it's very faint.

There are different types of colorblindness. I'm red-green. Can't remember all of the different varieties. You can be blind to just one color or blind to two or more. I'm not totally blind to red, sometimes certain shades come out pinkish or a bit orange-brown. But green, nada. Wish I could remember the names for the different types to relate to you. It's something I really don't even notice any longer, though it used to bother me as a kid thinking I was some sort of retard (no comments from the peanut gallery, please )

It's probably not the case any longer with all of the advances in imagery and all that jazz. But the military used to employ green colorblinds to read reconnaissance photos in the old black-&-white days. Nature's green (grass, trees) is a bit different than man-made green (camo paint). I had an opthalmologist sit down and explain it all to me very well when I was a teen and suffered an eye injury. Pencils are not eye friendly, in case you didn't already know that. But I'll be damned if I can remember everything he told me way back then.

That can make driving in the city a little more exciting!

I've never been pulled over for running a red light, so I've never been able to try that excuse. The truth is that, while I don't see the actual colors, I can still see which one is illuminated. When it's lit up on top or on the left, that means stop. When it's lit on the bottom or right, that means go. When it's yellow, that means go very fast or you'll get stuck at the intersection
