Overreaction from everyone...administration did not want to look stupid and people were afraid after seeing Hurricaine Katrina.

I bet lots of people in New Orleans now wish they would have "over reacted" as much as Houston did...

The thought of a 2nd New Orleans was just too much. I guess its better to be safe than sorry.
I lived in South Florida for 10 years and the preperation I did was just to make the females in the house feel better. I loved to bass fish right before the hurricanes hit because those largemouth would go into a feeding frenzy.

The forcast was a cat 4 heading straight for Houston. The storm lost it's punch and shifted east of Houston. They dodged a bullet. Like everybody said, better to be safe than sorry.

I can't wait until Bush starts crowing about what a great job they did for this hurricane. They're gonna try and make Katrina look like ancient history. Meanwhile he'll have all his cronies in Texas yammering about what a good job he's done and how wonderful the administration is. Makes me sick.
But, I'm just glad to see there wasn't as much devastation as Katrina because in the end it is all about people and not politics. It will also teach Homeland Security a thing or two about how hard it is to evacuate a city with several days notice, let alone a shorter time period.
who are these people who are trying to save everyone. stop interfering in the natural order of things. who would run from a hurricane? relatively harmless unless a tree falls on you. a little water damage here or there is no reason to evacuate city. idiotic officials who if there were a real disaster would be the first to run and hide.
