The guy in 159th has as many cashes as the guy in 1st...

Sinmiedo is probably a nice guy, but he isn't even in the top 30 of top SBR Poker Players...

SBR Poker needs better management...

The rankings need to be scrapped, There should be high buy in, deep stack tournaments on the weekends that everyone can play and take seriously. These tournaments should be used to calculate rankings.

You got SBR Poker off the ground, now its time to refine it...

The way you guys are running this "top 100" is going to turn off a lot of people to SBR Poker...

It should have "buy in" qualifiers.... then you would get the best players that want to play...

Now you are just getting a bunch of yahoo's that stumbled upon SBR Poker in its early days..

Except that the main event is only 2.25 as many points as a tournament with a buy-in of less than a 10th of its size(1 for a tourament with a buy-in of $500, 2.25 for the WSOP main event at $10k buy-in) which has the same size field.

Here we are comparing tournaments with equivalent field size but giving them a fraction of the point value.

Furthermore, the formula for the WSOP only changed this year(2011), in previous years you got the same amount of player of the year points for winning the main event as every other event in in the WSOP. That is when it counted at all. The main even didn't count for player of the year honors between 2006 and 2008(it counted in 2004 and 2005, and has since 2009).

Actually I've used that one since the beginning. I think the whining originally started in the top 100 players list thread.

Nevertheless, I don't think excluding a certain group of tournaments for having prizes "too big" makes much sense. To me it sounds like sour grapes. It's clear that a tourney based on winnings is black/white. What we can do as an aside is throw a tourney for having X minimum cashes.

it's not that not counting them now doesn't make sense.

it's that not advertising them as 'HOLY SHIT GUYS YOU BETTER PLAY AND PLAY WELL TODAY BECAUSE 8 MONTHS FROM NOW THE POINTS YOU WIN IN THESE TOURNAMENTS ARE GONNA BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PLAYING IN A HUGE TOURNAMENT OR NOT!!!!' doesn't make sense.

you made all this up on the fly, understandable. we all love sbr poker. next year we'll all know that the bigger ones mean more.

This list is going to be about who puts in volume anyway. You play enough tournaments, you're going to cash in several of them. At least the major tournaments give those people who don't play every day a chance to make the list. They are major tournaments anyways. It's all about who won the Masters or who wins a BCS bowl. Nobody cares about the Steak & Shake Open or the Roast Beef Bowl.

Actually, lou, they do. Does anyone here believe Jamie Gold is one of the best tournament players of all time? Well if we are counting tournament winnings (as we are in this ranking system), he would certainly be up there in real life.

That said, I don't think a "ranking" is necessary and it's just a nice promotion by SBR.

I have over 30 cashes and still need another cash to make the Top 100. Appreciate the tourneys SBR offers. I am usually able to convert my winnings after rollover on a 1:1 basis.

SBR Poker defies the laws of luck. I have played at Casinos, played with friends at home and played online at a dozen sites. The stuff that happens at SBR Poker defies any conventional wisdom. They must be spending hundreds of hours rigging that software which is a shame.

That may be some of it...

Another factor is, right around bubble time, the blinds are so high relative to the number of chips in play, it becomes "shove and pray".

I have played online for about 7 years and I really dont see any difference between SBR Poker and any of the other sites when it comes to the software. I think the play is worse and that may be what is throwing people off, but I cant see how any online poker veteran can really see big differences, IMO.

would have been more fair for the newbies to have a a few big point tournies towards the end...as there was in the beginning. oh well, hopefully i will qualify next time.
