What I learned about internet poker
I just deposited 50$ into pokerstars and played the 10/25Cent NL tables.

I lost it all in the 10-25cent nl tables, in about 20 minutes hahaha (i was playing decent poker too)

never again, i'll stick to nba capping

You only deposited enough for two full buy-ins at that level. Hardly enough of a sample to really say anything conclusive.

Nobody gets good at any sport using your first $50. Consider this tuition money used to get good at something. But don't quit the day job until you win more at the tables than your current job pays.

If you had to do it over again, simple rule, bring no more than 2 percent of bankroll into any room(Bankroll times .02 = room bring in amount, i.e $50 * .02 = $1). So $50 sounds to me that you should be going to a ring game that allows you to bring in a buck or $2. That sounds like you should have been sitting at the 1c/2c tables. You need to be able to enter up to 50 different poker playing sessions before going broke.

If ring games are not your thing, $1 or $2 Deep-stack tourneys, I'd look for a deepstack tourney(3000 starting chips instead of 1500 starting chips). Even good players only cash in 20 percent of their tourneys.

A side note, if a game allows you into a room, enter with the maximum buy-in you are allowed. (i.e. If it offers you to go in for $1 or $2, go in with $2. This prevents people from taking advantage of you for being short-stacked.)

A good way to build a new bankroll is with the Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday poker games offered here on SBR. They cost nothing and if you make it to a final table, you have a bankroll.

You should have been at the smallest limits with $50.

Thing I've noticed is the aggressiveness online compared to real life action, at least in my world. If you note it and do it you should be fine.

Good advices on bankroll management, but I seriously doubt a true american man would sit down to the 1 cent tables.

Expect to see far more "moves" online than live. Live games tend to be (IMO) more ABC poker where players wait to hit before committing. Online players like to get chips in the middle. I think the reason is two-fold - televised poker where people don't appreciate they are watching highlights! Secondly drink influenced players.

I ended up depositing 100$ into ful tilt to take advantage of their 100% bonus offer.

too bad they pay out over time, they released 20$ before i lost the last 100$. i've gotten better over the last week, placed in a few tournaments (turned 200 points into a 22$ buy in!!)

this is the highlight of my poker career
