    Peter Eastgate retired?
I heard on the recent ESPN 2010 WSOP telecast 2008 main event winner Peter Eastgate retired before the 2010 main event. Did anyone else here this?

Yeah I think its official, heard it a while ago, probably a good decision. Get lucky in one big donkamont and quit. What's the point of wasting your life grinding poker. He never enjoyed it, you could tell.

Poker makes you lose your hair.

Poker is a brutal game. I can't blame him. I know I'd go back to college, live at the shore during summer times and learn some other activities. I like poker, but its a grind for a non-standard job. It psychologically wrecks you and you can develop to many sedentary habits.

Probably not a bad move giving it up and not losing back any money when you made a pile. However, he should have retired after the main event, which I'm sure pokerstars is paying for the entry.

Retiring while at the top. Not bad, although I don't think PokerStars will be too happy.

Sounds like a good move. Probably like his chances in those better than beating out 5000 or 7000 player tournament fields.

he did officially retire. that gets him out of the sponsorship with stars cause he most likely hates all the publicity he has to do for them - he's the type that would rather win the main event as anonymous instead of all that fame that follows. I'm sure he still plays online once in a while and I know for a fact that he likes to gamble on sports, but yeah he did retire. a very nice guy.
