I'm not sure if Cake still had deductions or not. When I used them 8 months ago, they did not deduct anything, so you'd earn the bonus and get rakeback. I'm pretty sure on Merge you earn bonus points at half the rate while getting 35% rakeback, which is still quite good since everyone else does a full deduction.
