I have been doing bad in poker lately and I have some ideas why..
I have been playing looser and not realizing. In limit I have checked to many turns so the ended up screwing my long term odds and short term revenue. I feel that with the amount of players on line there are multiple styles that will keep you ahead and I am up over 30k in the long run which was in the beginning when poker began becoming popular again. With years comes wisdom but I am facing a tumultuous turn of events lately and I am hoping thing turn around. Off to Vegas I go, wish me luck if you would like or not if you care less but any input or strategy is good. We have Mike from Bodog here and he has one of the best players I have played with. He is not paid by them I dont believe but should be and I would love to hear your input. I feel like poker has been getting boring actually lately but I cant resist the temptation of a game I can actually beat on a consistent basis. Just a slow speed bump goin on but Ill be back!

id rather watch grass grow while listening to nails on a chalkboard for 24hrs straight than playing 1 hour of limit poker.

Various limit games are fine once you get used to them. Besides you have to learn them if you want to be good in mixed games. Limit is definitely more of a science.

im mostly a NL Holdem player, but i also enjoy limit holdem ,stud, PL omaha HL, lowball, pretty much everything. i read this article about limit holdem once. it pretty much said that your play style in limit depends largely on how your opponents are playing. if you are playing with tight people you should try to bet 2nd pair to make them fold....if they dont fold and they arent on an obvious draw then you should check it down.

if you are playing with loose passive opponents then you should bet with 2nd pair and keep betting, loose players will call with garbage, 3rd pair or just 2 over cards or a gut shot

i think in limit play, you should change your play depending on how your opponents are playing, more so than in No Limit

do you play 9 or 10 handed or 6 handed?

You have to play a very tight game in 9 and 10 handed it's very boring.

6 handed you can play a lot more hands plus make some more interesting players.

What limits do you typically play?, and do you play online or live? Players online are in general much better, best to play live when you can.

Try to take a week or so just reading books about poker and not playing as much as you can. When you start again after the week you should have a new perspective on things.

limit poker is frustrating at times because, especially with big stacks, they will call and chase and hit... you just have to remember to play correctly and over time you will win.. bad streaks are inevitable

stack size doesn't matter in limit hold em(assuming you have enough big bets to play out the hand like normal), but yea bad streaks are much more inevitable in limit hold em then no limit. If i remember right barry greinsteen says in his book that he wins around 70% of his no limit hold em sessions but only 55% of his limit hold em sessions. Many good players also have had huge downswings in limit hold em as the games have gotten tougher.
