    Where should a newbie play?
I've played with play money a Full Tilt for the past month or so. I'm looking to make a small deposit and get my toes wet. Is Full Tilt as good as any or should I look elsewhere?

Also, I see the deposit options are similar to sportsbooks.....are the withdraw options also similar to books? Are there rollover and time period requirements for withdraw?

    Thanks

    At my table.

No, there's no rollover or anything like that, except to unlock bonuses. Most sites make you wait 2 days after depositing to withdraw. Since you've been playing at Full Tilt and that's where you're comfortable, it's probably where you should get your feet wet in real money play. Good luck!
Walter forgot... when you're desperate's when you got no choice.

      1. if you are short on money, just get the $50 free with no deposit at tilt, ap or ub
      2. if you are ok in money, then get rakeback unless you play at stars obv

Don't play at stars if your a newb low limit player. The site is good but there are better bonus options out there and you won't get rackback. I would also say that the fulltilt micro cashgames are pretty terrible in comparison to micros on other sites. I'm not sure if you're a US player but if playing on a European site is an option I would strongly consider that. I have heard there is a noticeable difference in play. If you are just starting cash games I would start on cake until you are rolled for .25-.50 in which case I would look around for other options. I would not even think about AP/UB due to the shadiness of their site but it might be softer then others. Without knowing exactly what you play or what your goals are I guess it's hard for me to give a definate answer. GL.

I like poker stars the best. Doesn't give you any bad viruses or anything and is very simple and easy to use. My roommates all play on sportsbook.com that is pretty good too but takes a little while to take your money out.

Honestly, If you are relatively new to poker, you should start off playing at a site that also has a sportsbook or casino such as Bodog or Ultimate Bet. These sites attract alot of gamblers who don't necessarily treat poker as a skill game and instead are just hoping to get lucky. Big sites like full tilt and pokerstars are tempting because of their many promotions and huge tournaments... but new players should really avoid those sites until they are more comfortable at the tables and aware of their skill level. hope that helps

I play on Bodog, and I like it so far. They have 2/5 cent tables (which probably isn't that uncommon, just thought I'd put it out there though) so you don't have to risk that much, but can still play for a while. One problem I had was that when I went into a sit n go tourney, there were probably 3 or 4 people out of 10 that just went auto-fold the whole time so it didn't really seem legit. I talked to a friend who plays on poker stars and he said that he never had that problem. I only played in one and lost faith, so I could have just gotten a bad table.

try flanderspoker, not many people play there but the buyins are small and if you have just a little patience you can kill there!

Pokerstars is probably the best choice especially if you haven't decided if you're going to be playing Cash/MTT/STT and what game NLH/LHE/PLO etc. All these have good liquidity and are offered at the micro stakes so you can experiment. In addition the rake will not rape you at pokerstars at 5% whereas at FTP the 10% will absolutely rape you until you hit 25NL (if you decide to play cash).
