You want to play in tournaments that you are +EV/have huge overlay in. Try tournaments starting at weird times for the average playerbase (i.e.if players are mostly euros choose a time that not many will be playing) on smaller networks that have guaranteed prize pools.

In my experience though tournaments are really a crapshoot if you're looking to make consistent money (excluding STT's)

Switch to pokerstars, much better tourneys there

I would reccomend playing some of the FTOPS though, those are their best tourneys

on Sunday's they have 20+2 with a big, soft field that often doesn't make the gurantee... After their FTOPS ends they also usually have a mini-FTOPS with 10% buyins of the bigger events... Most of these should fit into your price range as well...

I find tourneys with around 700 entries are best. Sitngo's around 27 people.
