    (Poker) Cooler hand thread
The COOLER is an interesting element in poker. Doesn't happen too often:
*You're holding the 2nd-nuts (or something close to it). Your opponent has a monster that's even stronger.

How is Queens Full not good here?

Yes, very good. "Gamble." Lon aptly described it as him "stumbling out."

I saw that guy (Justin Phillips) at the WSOP a few years ago. Asked him "Make any Royals lately?"

He said "Not lately." Smiled, and I gave him a fist-bump.

That surely has to be the All-time Cooler. Nothing will ever top it. Especially when:
*Turn is: Top Set vs Nut Straight.
...River: IMPROVES the Nut Straight to a Royal...and Top Set to Quads!

I've talked to some Poker players. I've seen: Straight Flush vs Nut Flush.
...Not sure I've ever heard of Straight Flush vs smaller Straight Flush (around the middling cards).
...I have seen a draw to it. Will try to post it.

Nut Flush loses to only one combo. He makes an impossible fold here:

Hand I'm referencing = older WSOP clip. Can't find it:

*Hand matchup was: KQ(d) vs 97(d).
...Flop = JT8 (all Diamonds). King-hi flush versus Straight Flush.

                  *Both slow-played the flop.
...Turn = Action picks up. Bet/Raise/Shove, two All-Ins.
...King-hi Flush: actually looks over and sees 9-hi Flush. Thinks "I'm bigger" and gives a fist-pump.
...He then sees what he's up against. Amazingly, he wasn't drawing dead. His 9d was blocked. He did have one out (Ad) for the bigger Str8 Flush. But river bricked.

^ That one's a classic, Chucky. Props to Robl though, all these years later he's still crushing it at the highest stakes. Same can't be said for many others in this thread.

Nice, blanko! I didn't know that about Robl. He never really STRUCK ME as an elite player, but I believe you.

That is an amazing hand on so many levels:
(0:40) After Lewis bets QQ, look at him stare at Robl's chips! LOL, that's a huge tell.
(1:50) Robl leading out. He might do that if he feels like he under-repped his hand PF. Also, bottom Boat is more vulnerable than people think. I'm seen some cards that turn your hand into rubble.
(2:10) Sexton and Laak say that "he'll never raise." Here's where the great players go one step deeper. Lewis is thinking about how to get the money. But he's also thinking about the range of hands he COULD have. A hand like KJ might TRY to get A9 to fold.
...When you're BLOCKING QQ, the hand you can easily rep = Qx. That's his line, which is brilliant.

(2:50) Robl doesn't want to reveal his hand-strength. He can call-down and dodge a few outs versus Qx. Again, look at Lewis' eyes!

(3:00) As entertaining as Sexton and Laak are, I don't like their analysis here. THEY see the cards. The players are playing ranges.

(4:20) They don't display the stacks behind, which would be key. Lewis' turn bet totally looks like Qx. Here's an angle that MOST player are immune to: *It's what I call the Exploding Bet Ratio. When a player checks the Turn and then blasts River with an over-bet...it's a Monster 98% of the time. You want your sizing to look consistent. IE, some mix of Value and Bluff.
...Players don't know how easy it is to fold medium-strength hands when it looks like your opponent just discovered plutonium.

(4:50) As played, Robl 100% thinks he's up against Qx. Stacks behind aren't too deep. Robl feels like he's up against four outs (one Q, three kickers).

(5:00) AGAIN, check out Lewis' eyes. "Note to self: Now have funding for the trip to Bora Bora."

(5:24) I can't believe Sexton called for the 9. Laak is a riot, love his reaction: "That was sick."

(6:00) Robl has a half-pot bet behind. I have to say that Robl played this hand brilliantly. He could have 9x and other hands. His sizing was excellent. Of course, he's stacking any OTHER Qx hand.
