Did I really just see that?
Phil Ivey mucks the winning hand on the river after his opponent checks it to him!

    Smith Ad 9c
    Ivey 8s8

    5s Qh 10s Qs As

Check down to the river. Smith announces that he has an A. Phil doesn't double check his hole cards and mucks. Pot size $2,180,000.

    Play by Play.
Phil Ivey raises to 320K UTG. Everyone folds to Smith who raises to 1m with Ad9c. Phil Ivey calls. Flop 5s Qh 10s. Check Check. Turn Qs. Check Check. River As. Smith Check Ivey Mucks his flush!!!!! ????

Even "the best poker player" makes mistakes but wow so deep in the WSOP MAIN EVENT. Down to the last 27 players what a big mistake not a small pot at all.

What is the worst poker mistake you have made?

you can be the best player in the world but you will misread your winning hand for
x reasons : can be mentaly tired...more focused on a flush, for exemple but hit a straight on don't see it....it's part of the game

theres no real determining factor IMO for good and bad decisions in poker. If it cripples or eliminates you, it was bad, if it grew your stack, it was good.

Sounds like it was a good read....knew he was beat and played a "mind game"
instead when he folded to the check.

Although he might not have meant to do it, it probably helped him more than it hurt him. He played those 8's horribly.

When I saw it, I just assumed Phil thought the guy meant he had the Ace of spades when he said "I have an(the) Ace".. still stupid.

He did not fold , he mucked his hand after the river to a pair of Aces when he had a flush

Had nothing to do with a read.

This is what I think, too. If anything, it was an accidental dick move by his opponent, and frustration from Ivey.

So if you call all in with AA and lose when your opponent hits trip Ks you made a bad decision?

What if you push with 72o vs your opponent's AA and hit 2 pair for the win, is that a good decision?
