Looking to become at least an average Poker player. I seem to be winning/losing on big plays. After evaluating this particular play, I think I would have folded before going all in realizing that no one in their right mind (my opponent) would have gone all-in without an awesome hand.

Background: I evaluated this guys play prior to this hand with some web resources. He is a "good" player.

How would you have handled this hand?

Sorry, I don't know how to determine which player you are. I'm assuming "wispoker"?

IMO you shouldn't be raising his initial bet on the river with your flush draw. (and if you absolutely have to, not a minimum raise, because the only way you win here is if he folds the hand. And he's not folding a min raise unless he has ABSOLUTELY nothing. He raised pre-flop so you can assume he has at least 2 over cards). There is no need for you to be putting more money in the pot yet.

I wouldn't have checked the turn because my flush is high card 8, and I don't want to give the other guy the chance to hit a flush too if another diamond comes out (in case he is holding, say AdJh, for example). I guess in this spot he would raised and then you kind of have to fold. Because, assuming he is a "good" player, with the 3 diamonds out there, your check-call on the river and then bet on the turn telegraphs the flush. He would know he can't bluff you off of a flush and so he would only raise with a very strong flush himself because he wants more of your money in the pot. IF he is a "good" player...
