Not in the live tournaments I have played. The higher buy ins online have more thinking players imo. Live tourneys are usually softer.

ROYALKNIGHT,
Have to ask you why would you want to play against better players? I like playing live games . We are playing with friends and players we have played in the past. The over all social aspect. Over all you can get a read on a player sitting at the table with you all night. Both are fun, I prefer live games. On-line is so convient.
Royalknight, A very good question. Hope to play with you soon. Do you use Bodog? If so check out the Turbo sit n goes?

I prefer playing in AC at Harrahs they have great touyrnaments and its a fun poker room. However when you want to pick up a game without a drive turning on the PC is like hitting the poker easy button

The conveniences of online are pretty cool but I gotta stick with live for sheer, overwhelming enjoyment.
There is no equivalent online for the feel of the cards, the chips, and the felt in live play.
Online chat is ok, but chatter between live players and/or the dealer or other floor personnel is far superior.

You can say that again...BAD BEAT after BAD BEAT. I like watching the 25/50nl game and seeing the bad beats. It's almost like therapy for me seeing these guys drop thousands on a hand after I drop a couple hundred.

I hate live tourneys or poker cause I hate people. I must rather sit in my cave and play online where I can turn the chat off. Online offers all I need to meet my yearly goal of six digits and I never have to deposit. Where can you go live and play for free and win millions? Besides I like to play multibles which is not possible live. Only live for me is the trips that I win.

I prefer Dead Offline Tournaments Myself!
I like tournaments where there is lots of green and Dead Presidents involved. I also like Dead offline tournaments because the competition is well....................dead vs Dead/Live tournaments. It smells a lot less at a dead offline tournament.

live tourneys are harder, the best i ever did was cheap one in tahoe and got 1700, online touneys are cake though, soooo many crap players, if they had 1000 player tourneys and payed the last 25% i think i would never even have to work..

Live vs Online
The live tourneys are better. You can see reaction on the opposing players. That makes a difference, I think. Especially on the newer players.

Online tourney's can be fun because your at your house or where ever and you can sit back and relax...but to test your true poker abilities you have to play in live tourney's read other players and not let them read you

I'm going to say live tournament because there are much more fishy players. Freerolls have maniacs, they are usually actually a little bit better than fish but DONT care and I'm guessing your a smaller game player. Small game fish, are annoying but if the site is taking fair rake, cough Ultimatebet cough, you should win in the long run. Online at higher stakes not only has better players but they can also be tracking you. Live games, I probably have developed tells in my game just from playing online where i don't care if I'm smiling at the screen, yet I still usually outplay the guys that know less than me. I haven't played as much live, but I like it more...just not for the same reasons as you.

both have there advantages : online you can watch tv or a game while you fold like crazy or live you get the juices flowing that doesn't happen online. live you get to stack chips with shakey hands i love that feeling. but online i can call another player a f********.
