Thomas Kearney Leads Heading into Day 7; Negreanu 9th in Chips

Day 6 of the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event is officially complete, and there is now only one more day of poker until the November Nine is determined.
There are now 27 players still in contention for the most prestigious prize in poker – the Main Event bracelet – and the $7,680,021 first-place prize that goes along with it.
Play was stopped once Andrew Moreno was eliminated in 28th place. There is 37:36 remaining in Level 30 (with blinds at 60,000/120,000 and a 15,000 ante).
The chip leader heading into Day 7 is Thomas Kearney, who bagged up 14,400,000. He gained a major boost when he knocked out two players simultaneously, and continued to build his stackthroughout the rest of the night. Just behind Kearney at the top of the leaderboard is Matt Guan. Guan started the day fifth in chips, but jumped into the lead during the first level. He stayed near the top throughout most of the day, and now has 14,230.
Kearney and Guan are followed by Erasmus Morfe (12,085,000), Joseph McKeehen (11,975,000), Mario Sequeira (11,865,000), David Stefanski (11,485,000), and Alexander Turyansky (10,785,000) as the only players above the 10 million-chip mark. Once the final table is reached, the average stack will be almost 21 million, so all players have a long way to go before reaching the November Nine.

Day 7 will also feature one of the most famous characters in poker. Six-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu is among the final 27. He returns Tuesday in 9th place with 8,495,000 in chips. It’s been 14 years since the Poker Hall of Famer has come this close to the Main Event final table. In 2001, he finished in 11th place. Negreanu has earned virtually every honor in poker, including winning the Main Event at WSOP-APAC and the High Roller event at WSOP-Europe. However, the Main Event final table has thus far eluded him.
Today also saw the elimination of the last woman standing. Kelly Minkin (pictured below) was the only female player to make it to Day 6. She started the day in the middle of the pack, in 37th out of 69 players. But with the help of an early double up, she built her stack and for a while stood within the top 10. Eventually, though, she bowed out in 29th place for $211,821.
The day started with 69 players. Play got off to a fast start, and there were 13 eliminations by thefirst break. Play continued at this pace up until dinner. By that time, the 69 players had been whittled down to 36. During the next level, though, play slowed considerably, and only five players were eliminated during the fourth level of the day. Then during the last level of the night, four more players were eliminated before play was halted.
Play resumes at noon on Tuesday, and the WSOP updates team will be here to bring you all the action from the tournament floor as the final 27 become the November Nine.
