Main Event - Who Will Last Longer: Phil Ivey vs Phil Hellmuth?
Ivey 5/6; Hellmuth even money
ill take hellmuth at even money. I've followed the poker pros for a while now and I've watched a lot of poker videos and seen how these guys play. From my knowledge I believe hellmuth is the kinda poker play that likes to play by the book. The man has cashed in countless wsop tourneys and has won a wsop championship. He's a very conservative guy and can read people very well. From watching these pros for years he's easily the best tourney player I know other then Vanessa Selbst. Hellmuth cares soo much about poker and winning that he plays to win every time. He doesn't care about the prize money he cares about the brackets. The man has 14.
Phil ivey in the other hand is your true gambling man. The guy is soo damn rich he doesn't give two shits about these tourneys anymore. He makes plenty money from gambling on dice. Ivey loves winning too and he's got bracelets to show but he's a real gambler and doesn't play by the book.
so I like hellmuth to last longer because I know he will be playing to last as long as he can because if he can't win it all he loves to at least make the money. Hellmuth really knows how to pick his spots and is excellent at reading players and is very capable of laying down big hands if he knows he will lose.Only way I see hellmuth loosing this propb et is if he receives a "bad beat" or plain gets unlucky. While I believe Phil Ivey will take any opportunity to take a risky gamble rather then waiting around. I just don't think Ivey has the same drive to win abracelet like back in the day when the fields were a lot softer. Hellmuth has adjust over time well and can play we these kids now a days.
So I believe that hellmuth is the more patient and disciplined player while Ivey is your more gambling type of man. Every move hellmuth makes is calculated and I believe he will last much longer then Phil Ivey and I wouldn't be surprised to see Ivey exited quickly from a coin flip decision.
Phil hellmuth at even money to last longer then Phil Ivey in the World Series of poker main event.
