Nothing compares to South Louisiana.
Cajun food! YUM
Craving Boudain and Boiled Crawfish right now, but happen to be sitting in North Texas, so I'm out of luck.

Indeed it does, and I'm so lucky to have been raised in Louisiana. The downside to learning in cook in Louisiana is that now I'm very picky with food, and I find that most people are just horrible chefs. It sucks.

Bronxer, the TGI Fridays in Champaign closed in April pal, the franchisee...where i worked as a cook while in college, did not renew their franchise after 20 years of being open. So no Blackened Cajun chicken sandwich's for your buddy brock in a while. I can make them at home in a cast iron skillet...but i am too lazy.
But there is good news.
Surprise! TGI Friday's is returning to Champaign, at a different location and under different ownership. William Torchia, who has operated TGI Friday's restaurants in Peoria and other parts of Illinois, acquired the franchise for Champaign after the former franchisees allowed their agreement to expire after a 20-year run. Now Torchia is planning to open TGI Friday's in the former Chevy's Fresh-Mex at 103 W. Marketview Drive. Torchia said it will be a total rebuild inside, with everything expected to be gutted except the exterior walls and roof. He hasn't been issued a building permit yet, but figures the restaurant will open about 120 days after a permit is issued. It's likely the restaurant will open late this year or early next year, he said. Torchia, who lives in East Peoria, said he has TGI Friday's restaurants in Peoria, Moline, Quincy and Rockford. He initially started as a Subway operator, opening his first restaurant in 1988 and continuing as a franchisee for almost 20 years. He opened his first TGI Friday's in Peoria in 2005. As for the location on Marketview Drive, Torchia said he likes its proximity to Interstate 74 and Market Place Shopping Center. "I'd rather be on North Prospect, but there's no place to go there," he said. Torchia said he plans to honor TGI Friday's gift cards, as well as points built up in the restaurant's "Give Me More Stripes" rewards program. Meanwhile, David Block, one of the investors involved in the former TGI Friday's at Trade Centre South, reports that his new restaurant at that location — Prairie Fire — is likely to open in late August. Prairie Fire is awaiting arrival of special windows that will fit in with plans for the restaurant's open-air bar and landscaped patio. The restaurant will serve steaks, prime rib, chicken, seafood and an array of Italian and Mexican dishes.

The Rabbit & Sausage Jambalaya and the Cajun Fried Chicken are both out of this world delicious.

Depends where you go. There's overrated food in every city.
What's a "lower end food place" here anyway? The food courts? There aren't too many middle of the road restaurants on the strip - outside of a couple of Outback Steakhouses.

Unless it's free.
Most that come here don't have cars. So, getting a cab to save $5 on their meal doesn't make much sense.

100 Percent true.I think the food in Vegas is very overrated.Been to hundreds of places there over the years been to good places and bad.It is pretty much just a personal choice but for me the best food city was San Fran had 4 great meals the week i was there but that was about 10 years ago.I ve been living in Des Moines the last 9 years so it is hard for me too tell because anything is good compared to here.Des Moines is horrific for food and sports.Well definiatly be moving in at least 2 to 4 more years.

All the chain places of famous well known restaurants inside the hotels are all whoreshit.
Carnegie Deli at Mirage-whoreshit. Nothing like the real Carnegie Deli
Carmines at Forum Shops-whoreshit
Rao's at Forum shops is the exception. Eat there once every trip. Very good
Tons of great 5 star restaurants in Vegas but if you are looking for a quick bite in between games you are fukked

Asian food is absolutely terrible. Agree. Not enough good Mexican food. Agree. But if you look hard enough, there's some good places.
It's not bad for good-ole American food.
I like Steiners and PT's, their burgers are good. Village Pub has good food for great prices. Metro Pizza's pizza is good, their Italian food is decent. Smashburgers is good.
If you want decent Thai, Lotus of Siam is good, but outrageously expensive. I haven't found another decent thai place in town.
Bread? There's a bunch of mom and pop bakeries you can go to... I'll look them up later. I like Mon Ami Gabi bread. Panera's has decent bread.
You just gotta look around... but ethnic food sucks. Las Vegas can't lift a finger to Los Angeles ethnic food. And I don't know one decent Jewish deli outside of the fake, overpriced Carnegie and Canters on the strip. They don't resemble anything like the ones in New York and LA.

Chain restaurants are whoreshit. After a while, they all taste the same.
Try some of the Nevada-style pubs for decent, cheap, 24-hour food.
I think the coffee shops / mid-price restaurants in the Vegas hotels are horse food. I paid $12 for fukking pho, and the noodles were stuck together. Only in Vegas can you get away with such crap. Reminds me of the $9 chicken fingers I paid for at Disneyland.
