    Jose Canseco files Chapter 7 bankruptcy in Nevada

    LAS VEGAS -- Former Oakland Athletics slugger Jose Canseco has filed for bankruptcy protection in Nevada.The 1986 American League rookie of the year and 1988 league MVP with the A's is seeking asset liquidation in Chapter 7 documents filed Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Las Vegas.Canseco's bankruptcy attorney, Mark Segal declined to comment Wednesday.The bankruptcy petition says the 48-year-old Canseco lives in Las Vegas.The filing was first reported by the Las Vegas Sun.It lists less than $21,000 in assets and almost $1.7 million in liabilities, including more than $500,000 owed to the Internal Revenue Service.Canseco hit 462 home runs during 16 years on eight major league teams.He was a six-time All-Star and two-time World Series winner.He later admitted using performance-enhancing drugs.

      I can't believe that it's taken so long. The guy was trashing luxury cars intentionally more than 20 years ago....

                  Canseco was playing for the Worcester Tornadoes of the Can-AM independant league this season, who play their home games right down the street from me. Guy had the 2nd worst average of all players in the entire Can-AM league last time I checked, and his contract was for 1K a month. He is listed as "inactive" on their roster page right now, whatever that means.

                      Pretty sure you can't wipe out IRS debt in a chapt.7, or any bankruptcy for that matter. Maybe they negotiate, but they won't be getting a letter saying so and so filed bankruptcy and screw you and your lien.

                          you cant wipe out IRS debt or college loans. pretty much all other debt can be settled up via bankruptcy.
